10 At-Home Date Night Ideas on a Budget

Hi everyone, welcome back! I can’t even fathom that it is March right now, how did that happen? If you are counting down the days until warmer weather like I am, check out Dalton’s post earlier this week. It’s all about apps you can use while travelling, so you can get a head start on planning your summer vacation or road trip. For now, unfortunately, it is still winter, and I am all about staying in and hibernating. So, if you are with me there and want some fun date night ideas to do with your Hunny while staying in, just keep reading!

1. Have a board game night

A competitive game of Monopoly or a lighthearted game of Yahtzee can be the perfect date night-in to enjoy with your spouse. Silence your phone and be in the moment with your special someone.

2. Build an epic blanket fort

This is definitely a favourite date night idea of mine. I mean go all out! Get every blanket and pillow you own. This is something fun that everyone did as a child, so it can be a throwback activity for both of you. Tell your favourite fort building story from your childhood. Even better, make it a camp-out and spend all night in your masterpiece.

3. Movie and popcorn at home

Tying into our previous date night idea, enjoy a movie and popcorn at home in the fort you just built. Snuggled up on the couch works too! You don’t have to go to the theatre to get a movie experience.

4. Cook a new recipe together over a glass of wine (or two)

Everyone must eat, right? Why not make it into something fun and special you can do together. Pick a fun recipe you’ve never tried before and make it together as a team. Dalton and I love cooking together with some fun music and a glass of wine. It sounds like a party!

5. Stargaze

I know this one seems cheesy… STARGAZING! It is something that Dalton and I do often and really bond as astrology nerds. Even if you aren’t astrology nerds like us, it is still fun to find different constellations in the sky. Make it easier on yourself by downloading this app to help you find your favourites.

6. Make and bury a time capsule

This is something I have always wanted to do so I had to include it in this list. This is a fun date night idea that could cost absolutely nothing. Take a metal container and put in things that mean a lot to you or write each other a letter to be opened in 5, 10 or even 20 years. Seal up the metal container and bury it. Now, if you are going for the 20 years remember where you buried it and don’t ever move far away.

7. Do a puzzle together

We haven’t done a puzzle in a very long time. In fact, it’s been since the first year we were together. It’s a fun activity to do together and you’ll feel so accomplished when finished. Frame the puzzle and use it as home décor.

8. Reminisce on the past or plan for the future

Reminiscing is so nostalgic. We reminisce all the time especially since getting married. It’s nice to look back and remember all the amazing times you’ve had together. I keep a box full of things from the past including movie stubs, mini-golf scorecards, plane tickets, etc. If you aren’t feeling in the mood to look back, plan for the amazing future that is upon you.

9. Have a spa night

Get the bubble bath, the wine and the massage oil! It’s a spa night at home! Relaxing in the tub together enjoying a nice glass of pinot can be the perfect way to spend a night in with your other half. Finish the evening off by taking turns massaging each other.

10. Play video games together

Get out the old GameCube or your Nintendo Switch, whatever you have and get ready for a game night-in. It’s a great way to spend time together while having a little friendly competition.

That’s all she wrote! I hope you found some good ideas for your next date night with your special someone. Comment below what was your favourite date night idea. As always I will be back next Wednesday with another post. Talk to you then, have a wonderful week!

Much love,
Brit
