On July 5th, 2019, Brit and I officially tied the knot. It’s hard to believe that it has already been 1 full year and so much has happened in the last 12 months. So reflecting back on our first year being married, here are some highlights for myself.
Aside from the wedding day itself, I have to say my favourite memory was our trip to Punta Cana. Although Brit has been a few times before, this was my first time travelling outside North America. With this new experience, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous. But once we arrived, that nervousness disappeared almost instantly. The people there were very welcoming and created an entertaining experience. We stayed at Excellence El Carmen for 10 days. Brit and I would love to go again as our overall experience was nothing less than spectacular.
Don’t wish the day away, because before you know it a year will pass. I can’t even count the number of times I have said things like “ugh, Monday…” or “I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday”. Wishing that it is Friday every day is like ignoring the fact that you have 96 hours to take advantage since Monday. That’s 4,992 hours every year that gets wished away. My goal is to stop wishing away the week because this past year felt like it went by way too quick.
What I look forward to most
This is hard to narrow down to just one thing as I am looking forward to many things leading into year 2 of being married. But if I were to pick one thing, I think it would have to be the possibility of growing our family. As most of you know, our household is a total of 3 (including our fur child, Scooby). The thought of growing that number to 4 has been something on our minds for quite some time. But we shall see what the rest of 2020 has in store for us!
Happy anniversary my love. Looking forward to continuing this journey with you.
