How to Finish the Year Strong

Happy Thursday everyone. I hope you are all having a wonderful week and looking forward to Halloween this weekend whatever that looks like for you this year. With this year coming to a fast close it had me reflecting on this incredibly challenging year. I know that everyone in the world had its ups and downs in 2020. It is still crazy to think that everyone in the entire world was affected by the same thing and we are all going through some kind of struggle because of that. So, with the last 60ish days left in 2020, I want to change my perspective. Change my mindset and finish what I consider one of the most challenging years of my life as strong as ever. So, if you are with me in that let’s get into how to finish your year off strong and go into 2021 ready for a brand new year.

“Starting strong is good. Finishing strong is epic.”
– Robin Sharma

How do you feel about this year? What was your accomplishment? What did you maybe fall behind on or completely give up on? This year was draining for everyone with a new way of living. So, if the answers to these aren’t what you would have hoped at the beginning of 2020 that is OK! That is exactly why we are evaluating and refocusing our energy on the things we can accomplish in the last 2 months to finish the year strong.

Be Realistic

If you sat on the couch and did absolutely nothing this entire year that is ok, that is what you needed to keep yourself sane. Be honest with yourself that you took the time and relaxation you need to be your best self. If you accomplished some of your goals that’s great! This is the time however to be realistic and really be honest about what you can accomplish in the last 2 months of 2020. Dust off your goal list from January and be realistic about what is important to you at this time.

How to finish the year strong

I know you’ve heard this term many times this year. I think we have readjusted our entire lives. Readjust your social life, your financial situation, your well-being and the list goes on. Well, I am here to tell you, you have to adjust one more thing … your goals and priorities. Finishing the year off strong means getting things in order so you can be successful. Again dust off that goal list we aren’t done with it just yet. Do you have a list a mile long of things you wanted to accomplish and now it is overwhelming you? Just pick a few goals I recommend 3 goals that you can realistically tackle in November and December. If you had on your list to read 12 books this year and you only read 3, just try to get 2 or 3 more in. It’s taking those very large overwhelming goals and making them smaller much more manageable goals.

Now, that we have done all the work in getting us set up for success to finish this year off strong you need to refocus your energy. Refocus on those 3 smaller goals we have outlined and work on being a more productive you with the last couple of months of 2020. We can’t take back what we did or didn’t accomplish this year but we can refocus our priorities to go into 2021 with a much better mindset. Please do not beat yourself up for not being as productive in 2020 as you had hoped. It was a year full of uncertainty. Always remember you are not alone we are all there with you struggling through 2020 trying to make it the best it can be.

My Goals for November and December

  1. Read 3 more books this year. I have been pretty good with my reading list but could always be better. Here are the books I will be reading if you would like to read along:
    • Watching you by Lisa Jewel
    • The Guest List by Lucy Foley
    • The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks
  1. Work out at least 3 days a week. In the first 6 months of 2020, I was working out consistently and feeling great. However, when I started my full-time career in June working out fell a little to the waste side. I would love to recommit myself to at least 3 days a week of working out preferably 4 or 5 days a week but we will work up to that.
  1. Keep up with my journaling. I have been decently consistent with my journaling but would like to put a far bigger focus on this as I have seen lasting benefits come from journaling.

What are some goals you are going to work on to finish 2020 strong? Share below in the comment section we would love to hear from you guys. I hope this gave you some motivation to refocus on your goals and finish this year strong. 2020 has been anything but easy so whatever the end of the year looks like for you keep trying your best and we will make it through! Until next week everyone please stay safe, happy and healthy!

Much love,
