How to Reflect on the Past Year

As 2019 closed with it brought the new decade and so much excitement. I am a sucker for a “new beginning” or in other words an excuse to buy a new planner and pretty stationery. It is important to do a self-reflection of the past year so you can make accurate resolutions/goals going into the new year. So, today I will be taking you through my 15 questions on how to reflect on the past year. These questions touch on all aspects of your life to get a full reflection.

  4. What are you most grateful and thankful for?
  5. Do you have a favourite memory? Describe.

  8. Who did you spend the most time with?
  9. Did you enjoy the work/learning you did this year?
  10. Did you create a budget for the last year and stick to it?
  11. What did you waste too much money on?
  12. When you say 2019, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

  14. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rank your year?
  15. Where do you want to be one year from now? Describe it.

Now that you have the questions you can fill them out and reflect on your overall 2019! Below I have listed my answers to the questions. I would like to hear how you reflect on the past year, so please share in the comments section below or contact me directly.

1. How do you feel about last year?

2019 was amazing for me. It was a very big and challenging year but also the happiest of my life.

2. Would you have done anything differently?

I would have stuck up for myself a little more. I’m notoriously known as a pushover, something I definitely want to work on.

3. Did you set goals for last year and did you achieve them?

Yes, I set goals for last year. Almost all of my goals for last year surrounded our wedding in July and it was the best day of my life so definitely achieved them.

4. What are you most grateful and thankful for?

My amazing husband Dalton.

5. Do you have a favourite memory? Describe.

My favourite memory was hands down my wedding. It was the perfect day, although was extremely hot. Very well could have been worse as it was supposed to rain all day. Thankfully it didn’t!

6. Did you step outside your comfort zone? When?

Yes, I quit my fulltime job to better myself. It was definitely out of my comfort zone and something that needed to be done.

7. Did you accomplish anything on your bucket list?

Yes, I got married and we went on our honeymoon to Punta Cana.

8. Who did you spend the most time with?

My hubby.

9. Did you enjoy the work/learning you did this year?

No, I did not enjoy the work I was doing so I left my job at the end of September.

10. Did you create a budget for the last year and stick to it?

Yes, I created a budget that unfortunately I did not stick to. I am definitely going to work on that this year.

11. What did you waste too much money on?

Make-up as always.

12. When you say 2019, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

I married my best friend in front of everyone I love.

13. What’s your favourite song, movie, book and or TV show from last year?

Song: Perfect by Ed Sheeran; Movie: Molly’s Game; Book: If you love me by Maureen Cavanagh; Show: You on Netflix.

14. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rank your year?

15. Where do you want to be one year from now? Describe it.

I want to be an entrepreneur with Dalton.

I hope that you enjoyed getting deep with your 2019 and learned how to reflect on the past year. It is unbelievably important to reflect as it is a way to grow, especially at the end of a year. Next time we will go in on our goals for 2020 to make this the best year.
