Some of these relationships fall short and it can be hard to tell whether or not yours will be long-lasting. Dating has always carried its challenges and it can be even harder to decipher a healthy relationship from an unhealthy one. Take some time to educate yourself and read through a few signs of a healthy relationship. Know what “healthy” really looks like, and invest in a happy future for yourself.

When you first get into a relationship, it’s only natural to want to spend all of your time with that person. However, it’s also important that you spend some time apart. When you’re both on the same page regarding the pace of progression in the relationship, that is a sign you are beginning a healthy relationship.

If you’re really interested in knowing if your partner loves you, then you will have to allow the relationship to progress at an organic pace. There shouldn’t be any pressure on either party to move quicker. Plus, do you really want to rush through a relationship?

Trust is important for a long-term healthy relationship

It’s important to carry around the confidence that your partner is not going to do anything behind your back to harm you. Trust must be present for a relationship to be truly healthy for you both.

You don’t want to waste your time worrying about your partner’s intentions. A healthy relationship presents natural trust and time reinforces that trust. Independence is vital to happiness

You may want to completely immerse yourself in your partner, but proceed with a bit of caution. It’s fun in the beginning, but total immersion is a good way to find yourself in a co-dependent situation. Keeping individuality and independence top of mind will lead to a healthy relationship for the long term.

There’s a balance to be had between independence and abandonment in a relationship. Make sure you know how to tell the difference. The latter will inevitably create an unhealthy environment.

Respect and equality are crucial

Maintaining a healthy relationship with your partner takes respect and equality. You need an equal partner to take on the challenges of life, and it’s vital that you both feel like you have something special to add to each other.

Make your partner aware of your love and respect by treating them to a special day catered to their needs at least once a month. Appreciation is a good way to promote a healthy relationship.

In a healthy relationship, you need to argue sometimes

Believe it or not, you won’t always agree with everything your partner says or does, and it’s okay to share your disagreement. However, you need to confront your issues with a non-judgmental tone. Healthy relationships encourage disagreement but unhealthy ones typically involve angry debates. Talking about your feelings can be extremely beneficial.
